Little Mermaid-Foam on the Sea

3 in a series of postcard sized watercolor illustrations I am doing of various fairy tales.

One of my favourite concepts from Hans Christian Andersen's Little Mermaid is the idea that when mermaids die they become the foam on the waves. There was just something poetic and slightly creepy about that which really seemed to fit so well with the way mermaids are supposed to be.

Also, this ship has the largest and lowest windows I have ever seen on a boat.
